Meet Our Team

Exciting times at Bare Hands Yoga!

We are so excited, humbled, and appreciative to have opened our lovely new studio here in Columbia, IL.

We have spared no expense in creating a warm, cozy, loving space on Historic Main Street. Soothing colors, warm lighting, brand new props, an amazing 8-foot mandala, and a great sound system have come together to create what we're calling a sanctuary!

But, what we're most excited about is our team of instructors.  All 7 of them will play an integral part in our Collective Community, bringing different plays on all the different styles of yoga.

Amber is a mother of two boys who are her greatest adventure. She began her yoga practice 13 years ago during her second pregnancy and was instantly taken by how yoga made her feel. "It allows us to release the things that do not serve us while connecting to our movements and breath". In 2017 she completed the RYT 200hr training program at Namaste in Kirkwood, MO. "The training has forever changed me". Amber is a member of Yoga Alliance, and loves challenging students in class with creative sequencing and breath work. She truly believes that yoga is a path to cultivating the strength and balance we need to live our fullest lives. Everyone's practice is as unique as they are, but always of great value.

My yoga journey began shortly after college in San Diego, California in 2001 on a VHS tape at home. With a new city and chapter in my life, a new life-long passion also blossomed when a new studio, Yoga One, opened 2 blocks from my job...And, just like that....yoga became convenient to practice over lunch or immediately after work.

Building my career in the fast-paced, high-stress financial services industry, yoga quickly became the best mental and physical escape...a way to help reduce stress and anxiety, build strength and flexibility, and gave me peace and clarity.  It also became a place I could challenge myself, push my boundaries and continuously work on self-development to achieve my personal and professional goals.

As time went on with a consistent practice, I desired a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy and postural alignment, I completed my first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training from Yoga One under Amy and Michael Caldwell in 2008.

Fast forward to 2019, again, I completed the 200-hour YTT under Jen Jones and Jami Marsoun at South River Yoga in St. Louis, MO...only this time, with the intention to teach others all the amazing benefits of yoga and meditation...like exercise, mindfulness, gratitude, positive mind, healing, restorative, transformation, community, support, discipline, self-confidence, love, success, health and happiness.

A friend introduced me to yoga in 1999, and I loved the strength and agility that I found in my body through yoga. After years of practicing, I wanted to share my love of this amazing tradition with my family & friends, so I began a YogaFit® 200 hour teacher training program. I started teaching yoga in 2007, all around the small town where I live--at the park, and in boutiques after hours. In 2008, I opened the first yoga studio in our town, Yoga in Columbia. After a successful 7-year run, I decided to close the studio in 2015, and return to the simple joy of practicing and teaching yoga. In 2016, E-RYT200 and YACEP designations were added, and I completed RYT500 certification in early 2017 at Studio Gaia in Edwardsville.
